About AFROHA
AFROHA (Waamu African Organization for HIV/AIDS) is an African-led grassroots organization dedicated to improving the lives of children, families, and communities impacted by HIV/AIDS through education, community support, and advocacy.

Our Story
AFROHA was founded to respond to the everyday realities faced by children and families affected by HIV/AIDS in underserved communities. What began as community-based support has grown into a sustained effort focused on education, dignity, and long-term impact.
For over a decade, we have worked alongside local partners, schools, and community leaders to address barriers that prevent vulnerable children—especially girls—from accessing education and essential support.
Our work is rooted in lived experience, local knowledge, and a belief that lasting change happens when communities are supported, informed, and empowered.
Our Mission
To support children and families affected by HIV/AIDS through education, community-based programs, and compassionate action that strengthens futures and builds resilience.
Our Values
- Community-led
- We prioritize local voices, leadership, and lived experience.
- Dignity & respect
- Every child and family deserves care, opportunity, and respect.
- Education-focused
- Education is central to breaking cycles of vulnerability and poverty.
- Accountability
- We act responsibly and transparently with donor and community support.
- Sustainability
- We focus on long-term, meaningful impact rather than short-term solutions.
How We Work
AFROHA’s programs are practical, community-based, and responsive to local needs. We work closely with schools, community groups, and health stakeholders to ensure support reaches those who need it most.
Our approach emphasizes prevention and education, support for vulnerable children—especially girls—community awareness and stigma reduction, and collaboration with local leadership.
Where We Work
Our work is primarily focused in East Africa, supporting communities affected by HIV/AIDS through locally informed programs and partnerships. While our roots are regional, our support network extends globally, bringing together individuals and families who believe in community-led change.
